Great Community Day
Jun 15th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Friends of MetungAround 50 people, locals, semi-locals and visitors, attended the Community Day at the Reserve on Saturday 13th June. The two guided walks allowed all to view first hand the current problems of erosion from inappropriate use by off-road vehicles, weed invasion and general lack of management in the Reserve.
Botanical experts in the group pointed out the significant vegetation that survives despite the degradation of the area; from ancient Gippsland Grey Box trees to tiny orchids. Proposals for restoration were outlined and ongoing support was given by many of those present for future action.

The day ended with a free sausage sizzle (thanks Parks Vic), a cuppa and lots of discussion in the sun.
Thanks to Metung Primary School for providing their facilities.
