MBR working bee May 22 achievements

The working bee went very well on Sat 22 May.
We achieved the following :

The gate was installed at the bottom of the park (end of Christmas Street)
Two Parks Vic signs showing “Metung Bushland Reserve” were installed. One at the bottom of the park and the other at the entrance near the school

National Tree Day Planting in MBR

Friends of Metung and the students of Metung Primary School held a planting day on Monday 3rd Aug as a follow up to National Tree Day. The 60 shrubs and trees that were planted marked the beginning of the revegetation project and contributed to the students understanding of the importance of the neighbouring Reserve. As [...]



East Gippsland Water doing their bit

Friends of Metung, FOGL and Parks Victoria met with Keith Bone from East Gippsland Water today to discuss land owned and managed by East Gippsland Water in the Metung Bushland Reserve.
East Gippsland Water are to install bollards and gates to hopefully end the inappropriate usage of the Reserve as a 4wd and motorbike track.
 



School to benefit from improved Reserve

Metung Primary School is keen to participate in the rehabilitation and has offered up use of the School grounds for the Community Day Saturday June 13.
School children will learn more about the Reserve as part of ther science curriculum and will assist in identfying native and weed species and planting activities.
